Deborah B. Freeman, 51

Deborah B. Freeman, 51, of Tekamah, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at Greeley after being involved in an automobile accident.

Funeral services were Thursday, Dec. 21, at Country Bible Church in Blair. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.

Deborah B. Baxter was born Jan. 16, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Gilbert and Ruth (Lafferty) Baxter. She moved to Fairmont, Minn., with her parents during adolescence. She graduated from Fairmont High School, then attended Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa, where she earned her degree in music and education. She then moved to Chapman, where she was the regional director for the Head Start Program in Central City.

On April 28, 1979, she married Rodney Freeman in Fairmont, Minn. After their marriage, they moved to Blair and later to Tekamah.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Stephani Freeman of Blair, Joshua Freeman of Saratoga, Wyo., and Andrew Freeman of Tekamah; father, Gilbert “Bud” Baxter of Apache Junction, Ariz.; three brothers, Glenn Baxter of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Wayne Baxter of Peoria, Ariz., and Jeff Baxter of Durango, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Campbell-Aman funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Three people died and a fourth was critically injured Sunday evening in a two-vehicle accident north of Greeley. Barbara Reed, 68, of Farwell was driving south in a Dodge Caravan on Highway 281 about a mile and a half north of Greeley when she crossed the center line and hit a Dodge Intrepid head-on just after 6:30 p.m., according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

Reed and her husband, Richard, 69, were pronounced dead at the scene along with the car's passenger, Deborah Freeman, 51, of Tekamah. The car's driver, Rodney Freeman, 50, of Tekamah was taken to BryanLGH West Medical Center in Lincoln, where he was in critical condition Monday morning.

Richard Reed and Rodney Freeman were wearing seat belts. Barbara Reed and Deborah Freeman were not.

State Patrol Troop C Capt. Chris Kolb said he did not believe anyone was ejected from a vehicle. The accident is still under investigation, he said. #3 Printed in the Dec. 20, 2006 World-Herald, Omaha, Nebraska

Funeral services 10:00am Thursday, Country Bible Church in Blair.

Burial Blair Cemetery. Visitation will begin 1pm Wednesday.
