A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church for Clara Butterfield, 96, of Tokeland, Washington and formerly of Fort Calhoun, who died April 16, 1995, in Raymond, Washington. Burial will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Clara Butterfield was born February 10, 1899 in Wisner, Nebraska to Anna and Peter Tritten. She graduated from Wisner High School in 1917.

At the age of nine, she was playing the piano for her church and school.

She began playing for the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church in 1945 and joined the church in 1947. She was organist and choir director there for many years, before moving to Washington to live with her daughter, Marian, in 1978 where she continued to play for church functions.

She gave private voice and piano lessons. She was pianist for the Fort Calhoun Schools and played for a dance studio in Omaha.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church's woman's organizations and was a long time member of the Fort Calhoun Women's Club.

She married Chester C. Butterfield in 1917 in Wisner. He preceded her in death in 1963. She is survived by a son, Chester W. Butter field of Fresno, California; a daughter, Marian Panorian of Tokeland, Washington; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
