Dr. David G. Butterfield, young Blair dentist who opened offices here only a year ago, died Tuesday afternoon at an Omaha hospital. He was the victim of a brain tumor. Dr. Butterfield was 26 years old.

Dr. Butterfield had his dental offices in the Goehring Medical Building at Fifteenth and Colfax streets. He was a native of Pilger, Nebraska and a graduate of the University of Nebraska. He was a Naval veteran and had served a year with the first Marine Air Wing in Vietnam.

Dr. Butterfield was married to Miss Diane Mullin of Herman in May of this year and had been in good health until recently.

Funeral services will be held at Wisner, Nebraska.

David George Butterfield, a son of Ralph and Erma Butterfield of Pilger, Nebraska was born on August 4, 1941 in Los Angeles, California. In 1949 he with his parents moved to Pilger, Nebraska where he attended the local schools and graduated from Pilger High School in 1959.

In 1950 David was baptized in the Methodist Church in Pilger and became a member of that church.

After graduation from High School he attended the University of Nebraska Dental College and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from that University in 1965. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta and Delta Sigma Delta (dental honorary) fraternities.

Following his graduation from the University, he served his country in the United States Navy, in which he was a Lieutenant and completed his term of service in Viet Nam. In September 1967 he set up his Office of Dentistry in Blair, Nebraska and began his practice here.

He was a member of the Blair Jaycees, sec. of Tri-Valley Dental Assoc., and a member of the Omaha Dental Assoc., and The American Dental Assoc.

On Jun 7, 1968 he was united in marriage to Diane Mullins of Herman, Nebraska.

Following a brief illness he passed away on October 8, 1968 in the hospital in Omaha at the age of twenty-seven years.

He is survived by his wife, Diane, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Butterfield of Pilger, Nebraska; two brothers, John of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Tom of Pilger, Nebraska; one sister, Roberta, Mrs. Gayle Grubb of Long Beach, California; his grandmother, Mrs. Grace Carson of Pilger and several nieces.
