Services for John Earl Bylund, age 96 of Audubon, Iowa and formerly of Herman, who died December 18, 1990 in the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon will be held at 10:30 a.m Friday at the Campbell-Aman Funeral Chapel. Rev. Larry Orvis will officiate with burial in the Herman Cemetery.

John Earl Bylund was born September 25, 1894, in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden to Jonas and Anna Wickland Bylund. He came to America in 1904 with his family, entering through Ellis Island.

They settled in Painesville, Ohio with the Ed Wicklands for two years. They then lived at the Pingrey Ranch where his mother was a cook.

On November 24, 1915 Earl married Flossie Edna Harvey in Audubon, Iowa. They started farming in the Coon Rapids area and stayed there until 1942. They then moved to Omaha, Nebraska and resided there until 1946 at which time they moved east of Herman where they farmed for several years.

In later years, he lived in Herman before moving to the Good Shepherd Home in Blair in 1983. He then resided in Coon Rapids, Iowa for five years and for the last several months in the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son Raymond; two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by two sons, Orvil W. Bylund of Perry, Iowa and Edward Bylund of Audubon, Iowa; two daughters, Edna Bell of Red Oak, Iowa and Ida Marie Meek of Mentor, Ohio; 25 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa 50025.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
