Myrtle Irene Byram, age 94, of Decatur died early February 29, 1988, at the Tekamah Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.

She was born on March 14, 1893, at Anthon, Iowa, to Harcourt P. and Clara D. (Malcom) Rogers.

After graduating from the Decatur High School in 1909, Myrtle attended Wayne State Teachers School, and then taught in the Decatur area for a brief period of time. She then worked in Decatur until her marriage to Roy M. Byram on April 27, 1916, at Decatur.

Mr. Byram died on July 6, 1951.

Myrtle was the oldest living graduate of Decatur High School and was also the oldest living member of the United Methodist Church at Decatur.

Survivors include two daughters: Janice Wells of Decatur and Beth J. O'Donnell of Sunnyvale, California; four sons: Richard Roger Byram and Roy M. Byram, Jr., both of Corpus Christi, Texas, Charles Earl Byram of Tekamah and John Arnold Byram of San Jose, California; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter (Roxene Smith in 1984) , one sister (Izora Davis) and two brothers (Perry and Charles Rogers).

Funeral services were held March 3, 1988, at the Decatur United Methodist Church with Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiating.

Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery at Decatur.

Arrangements were handled by the Hamel and Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
