Remembering the life of Erwin Everett Mahan

Erwin E. Mahan, age 80, passed away April 22, 2018. He was born in Council Bluffs, on November 14, 1937, to the late Earl and Emma (Basch) Mahan.

Erwin was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. He worked as a foreman at Foxley grain elevator and was once buried in a grain bin and had to be rescued by CB firefighters the day before Thanksgiving. He met his future wife, Patricia Hammer, at First Christian Church. They both flew for the first time to their honeymoon destination, Disneyland. He enjoyed riding his bit and listening to music. Erwin was a loving father and loved spending time with his grandkids.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Mahan; brothers, Earl Mahan Jr. and Edward Mahan.

Erwin is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Danell Mahan, James and Jodi Mahan; siblings, Emogene Kaufman, Evelyn Kessler, Elwood Mahan, Eldon Mahan (Karen), Elain Collier; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Honorary Pallbearers: Austen Copeland, Isaiah Mahan, Caleb Mahan

Pallbearers: Patrick Mahan, James Mahan, Mitchell Mahan, Jordan Mahan, Zachary Copeland

Interment: Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa

Family and friends are invited for lunch and fellowship in the Hoy-Kilnoski Community Room immediately following the committal service
