JORGEN SORENSEN

Jorgen Sorensen was taken ill Tuesday, Oct. 24th at his home two miles south of Blair, and was removed to an Omaha hospital the 27th, and operated on at midnight for acute appendicitis. Peritonitis developed, resulting in his death last Friday, Nov. 3rd, at the age of 59 years, 11 months and 22 days. He was born on the island of Funen, Denmark on the 12th of Nov., 1873, and came to America in 1893. He attended Elk Horn High School at Elk Horn, Iowa for a short time; also Dana College for two terms. On the 3rd of June, 1902 he was united in marriage to Anna M. Enger. He then moved to Racine, Wis. where he taught parochial schools for one year. Later he came to Blair where he has made his home until his death. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Blair.

Surviving him are his widow and three children: Mr. Fred Sorensen of Blair, Katherine Barber of Omaha and Carl Sorensen, now stationed in the Philippine Islands. Also one granddaughter and five brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services were held at First Lutheran church last Monday with Rev. James N. Lund officiating.

Deceased was a man of exceptional worth. Strictly honest in his dealings with his fellow man, a good reader and a deep thinker, he was a citizen whose conduct in life was well worth emulating, and he will be greatly missed in this community.

Among the out of town guests present at the funeral rites were Knud Sorensen of Racine, Wisconsin and Marie Sorensen of Chicago, both relatives of the deceased.
