REV. J. G. LANG

Rev. J. G. Lang, who for the past two months has been ill at his home on west Grant street, passed away last Friday, Oct. 13 of heart trouble.

Deceased was born May 11, 1859 at Winesburg, Ohio where he grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Carrie Droege on Oct. 16, 1884 at Valley City, Ohio, and to this union ten children were born as follows: Rev. Titus Lang, Quincy, Ill; Julius Lang, Omaha; Prof. Victor Lang, St. Louis (Prof. Parochial School); Rev. Otis Lang, Estherville, Iowa; Ernest Lang, Herman; Mrs. Viola Hildebrandt, Omaha; Rev. Hugo Lang, Missoula, Montana; Mrs. Esther Lawrence, Curtis, Nebr; Rev. Paul Lang, Palo Alta, Calif; and Martin Lang, Denver.

He studied for the ministry in Fort Wayne, Ind. and later in Springfield, Ill. where he graduated. His first pastorate was in the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran church at the age of 24 at Grantin in Wisconsin. His last was in the western part of this county near Hooper where he served for nearly thirty years when he retired and moved to Blair about four and one half years ago.

Funeral services were held from the Trinity Lutheran church in Blair at noon last Tuesday, and then at the Immanuel Lutheran church six miles east of Hooper where interment was made in the church cemetery.
