C. R. BENDORF DIES IN OMAHA

Chris R. Bendorf, 77, former Omaha city employee under Hummel, died Friday afternoon at his home in Omaha, 1501 Sprague St. after a year’s illness.

Bendorf was retired 10 years ago when he was partially blinded while working on a dredge at Carter Lake. Hot oil from a lubricator sprayed in his eyes. He has lived in Omaha 61 years and was employed by the city eight years.

He is survived by his wife, Freda; six sons, Frank, Fred, Matt, Harry, Henry and Charles; four daughters, Mrs. Roy Warren, Mrs. Roy Langston, Mrs. Louis Swanson and Mrs. Fred Valentine, all of Omaha; a brother, C. L. Bendorf of Blair; and also one sister, Mrs. A. A. Meyers of Omaha; 24 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Services were held Monday at 10 a.m. from the John A. Gentleman mortuary. Burial was made in the Holy Sepulcher cemetery.
