ALBERT MONSON

A pall of sadness fell over the Kennard community Thursday, August 3rd when it became known to his numerous close friends in that region that Albert Monson had succumbed in an Omaha hospital, following a critical illness of only a few days.

On Friday, the 23rd of July, Mr. Monson, who had been assisting the latter’s place near Kennard, sustained an injury to his foot when he was stepped upon by a cow. He was taken to an Omaha hospital, but an infection set in, later developing into tetanus, and death came despite the efforts of doctors and nurses to save his life.

Mr. Monson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Monson, who have a wide acquaintance in the county, was born at Kennard January 14, 1896, and was at the time of his death 37 years, 6 months and 20 days old. In childhood he was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Kennard Lutheran church, and was confirmed in that faith in 1911.

Surviving him are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Monson of Kennard; four brothers and three sisters: Karl of St. Louis, Mo; Martin of Lyons, Nebr; Ernest and Elmer of Kennard; and Mrs. Chas. Andreassen, Mrs. William Farnberg and Mrs. Carl Bohs, all of Blair. they have the deepest sympathy of innumerable friends in the untimely death of their son and brother.

Mr. Monson had never married, his principal interest in life centering about his parents and brothers and sisters. Cheerful, sincere, honest and an energetic worker, he appeared to find much satisfaction in any service he might render relatives and friends, and it was typical of him, that at the time he suffered his fatal accident, he was aiding his brother in farming operations.

His passing robs Kennard and the surrounding farm community of one of its best known and most liked young farmers, and the countless expressions of grief heard after his death is assurance that his memory will live long, not only among members of his sorrowing family, but among hundreds of others who were proud to have him as a friend.

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church at Kennard Saturday afternoon, Aug. 5th, Rev. James N. Lund officiating.
