JENS HENDRICKSEN WAR VETERAN DIES

Jens , 40, a World War veteran, died Monday, July 17 at the Veterans’ hospital in Lincoln where he had been confined much of the time during the past two years. Ten days ago he contracted pneumonia, and his condition declined rapidly after that.

Hendricksen was born November 20, 1892 in Tarm, Denmark. He came to the united States in 1909, settling first in Saline county, where he made his home for six years. He then moved to Washington county, and engaged in farming there until 1918 when he was drafted for service in the war. He was stationed at Camp Grant in Rockford, Ill., and while there suffered an illness which was said to be the contributing cause of the disability he has suffered during the past 10 years. He was honorably discharged December 21, 1918, returning to Washington county to resume the occupation of farming.

On March 14, 1920 he was married to Dorothy M. Clausen in Blair, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jens Clausen of this city. To this union three daughters were born: Anna Kathryn, Ellen Amelia and Elaine Marie.

In February, 1925 the family moved to Fremont where he made his residence until the last two years when most of his time was spent in the hospital. He had many friends in this vicinity.

For a number of years he had been a member of the Danish Lutheran church and of the Danish Brotherhood. He also was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, his three daughters, two sisters and two brothers. His sisters and brothers reside in Denmark.

The body was taken to Fremont where the funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon of last week, and burial was made in Ridge cemetery west of Fremont. Rev. Hans Jersild of this city officiated at the ceremonies.

Note: The headstone spelling of his name is Henricksen.
