ANDREW FEER CALLED

Another old settler gone. Andrew Feer, aged 77 years and a resident of Blair for the past 30 years, died suddenly on Wednesday, May 17th at 12:30 p.m. He had apparently been as well as usual up to the time of his death and the shock to the family and friends was indeed great.

Mr. Feer was an ideal citizen. Always busy, always a gentleman, he had a large number of friends who knew and appreciated his sterling qualities. He was a native of Sweden, coming to America when a boy of twelve years and with the family settling on a farm near Argo, Burt county where he grew to manhood.

He was married in 1877 to Miss Hannah Hammerlun, a girl from the same town in Sweden, whose folks came to this country and settled in the same locality. The marriage ceremony was performed in Burt county in the first court house in the county which was built of logs.

Mr. and Mrs. Feer lived in Valley, Nebr. for several years where Mr. Feer helped to build the first Union Pacific railroad that was made in Nebraska. After many years, they moved to the home in Blair where they have lived for the past thirty years. Here he entered into the employ of the former E. S. Beaty and for a while he worked for the bridge department, but later caring for the yards and flowers. At the latter, he had become almost an expert.

There remain, with the widow, four sons and three daughters, two sisters and one brother, sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There were three daughters and one son who died in infancy.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral ceremonies were: Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Anderson, Miss Anna Olson, Miss Emma Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Wyn Davidson all of Omaha, Nebr; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Feer, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Anderson and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olson, Mrs. Pete Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Jarf all of Craig, Neb; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Soderling, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kuhlman, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Larsen, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Koehler, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Koehler, Jr. and Wm. Koehler, Sr. all of Uehling, Neb; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Johnson, Mrs. Anna Rundell and Mrs. J. W. Way of Oakland, Nebr; Mr. Olaf Hammerlun and Mrs. Simon Mihan of Lyman, Nebr; Mrs. Andrew Brood of White River, So. Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Nels Brood and Mrs. Olaf Olsen and son, Robert of Anoka, Nebr; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Larsen and daughter and sons, and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hoganson of Hooper, Nebr; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hovendick of Herman, Nebr; Mr. John Feer and sister, Mrs. Leo Schmitz and daughters of Winnebago, Nebr; Mr. Alex Feer of Norfolk, Nebr; Mrs. Virgil Davidson of Alhambra, Cal; and Mrs. Christene Vlasak and son, Elmer and daughter, Helen of Rising City, Nebr.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o’clock from the Bendorf Funeral Home with Rev. T. J. Reese of the local Baptist church officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
