Mrs. Fred Petersen, early Washington county settler, passed away at her home west of Spiker on last Friday, April 14th at the age of 76 years.

Deceased was born in Denmark and came to this country in early life. She was married to Fred Petersen in Blair in 1878, and immediately, with him, took up farming southwest of Spiker. Here they lived until 1881 when they moved to the home where she died west of Spiker.

Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Petersen, seven are still living as follows: Peter L. of Herman; Henry, Fred A. and Mrs. Mary Carlsberg of Arlington; Mrs. Tena Wachter and Mrs. Nora Gosker of Herman and Carl Christian of Wayne, Nebr. Sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one brother, Jens Andersen of Blair, join with the family in this great grief.

Funeral services were held in the Orum church last Sunday at 2:30 pm., and interment was made in the Lincoln cemetery at Orum.

PIONEER SPIKER RESIDENT DIES

RITES HELD EASTER SUNDAY FOR MRS. ANNA PETERSON

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Margaret Peterson of Spiker were held on Easter Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran church near Orum. Rev. M. W. Tolo conducted the last rites. Interment was made in the Lincoln cemetery.

Mrs. Peterson as Anna Margaret Anderson was born on Moen Island, Denmark, September 7, | 1856. She passed away Friday, April 14, after a prolonged illness, having suffered a stroke in 1929. On August 19, 1878, she was united in marriage with Fred Peterson at Blair Nebraska. The family home was on a farm in Grant township about four miles northwest of Spiker.

Their union was blessed with nine children, five sons and four daughters, Two children preceded her in death, namely Carl Christian who died in infancy, and Karen Christena who died at the age of twenty years. The following children are living: Peter L. of Herman, Carl Christian of Wayne, Henry, Fred A. and Mary (Mrs. Carlberg) of Arlington, Tena (Mrs. Wachter) and Nora (Mrs. Gosker) of Herman.

Her husband preceded her in death March 25, 1927.

Besides her children she is survived by 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and one brother, Jens Anderson of Blair. One sister, Mrs. Nel Rasmussen of Randolph. Nebr. and four brothers, Hans P. and Peter of Herman: John of Greeley and Andrew (Christiansen) of Blair, preceded her in death

The deceased was a beloved and esteemed woman possessed many dear friends, all of whom extend sympathy to the bereaved ones left to mourn her departure.
