OLIVE MAY MOORE

Olive May Moore was born in this county Dec. 15, 1871 on the farm owned and operated by her father, A. J. Moore, one and one half miles south of Kennard. Her death came Jan. 11, 1933 following an attack of flu and pneumonia.

Her mother was called in 1890, but her father lived until 1916. When the deceased was nine years of age her parents moved to Blair, moving into the home on west Lincoln street which was her home until the end, living there for nearly fifty two years.

Three brothers and four sisters made up this home. Of this family, the three brothers, John A. and P.S. of Blair and Jas. H. Moore of Omaha remain and also one sister, Mrs. Mary A. Corell of Plainview.

For years Blair has known the Moore sisters, Flora and Olive Moore, who have lived among us together since the scattering of the family, leading exemplary lives. Quiet and unobtrusive in their mode of living, yet always known for their deeds of kindness and their Christian mode of living. In early years they took two nieces, whose mother had been called away, and tenderly and lovingly reared them in the Christian graces so dear to their hearts.

A few months ago Flora was called leaving Olive alone. The shock was great, and since that time the deceased has gradually failed, and when the last sickness came she was unable to throw it off.

For years Olive was well known in business circles, being a competent compositor in the printing offices of the city, which position she filled in a manner that brought the greatest respect from her employers. Always thoughtful and faithful to her duties, she was of inestimable value as an assistant.

Thus, a life devoted to the good of mankind, a life fashioned in the likeness of her Savior has passed to her reward.

The funeral services were held from the Bendorf Funeral Home on Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. A. F. Newell of the Congregational church officiating and assisted by Rev. Reese of the Baptist church, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
