Veteran, Civil War

William Baker, who lived about one mile south of the city, died Sunday night. He retired for the night feeling usually well, but at eleven o'clock was found by his wife, dead. The cause was probably heart failure. Mr. Baker was planning to sell his home out there with the intention of moving to the city, where he and his wife could live more comfortably. He was an old soldier, but had not joined the local G.A.R. Post. He had won quite a large circle of friends in the short time he has lived here. The funeral was held today at 2 o'clock, the pallbearers being selected from the members of John A. Dix Post G.A.R.
