Dorothy (Micheel) Randall, 84, of Valentine, died Aug. 29, 2001.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 3, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Valentine. Interment was at the Mount Hope Cemetery.

Dorothy Randall was born March 10, 1920, in Boyd County, Gross, Neb., to Carl A. and Ruth Keller Micheel. She had three brothers and four sisters. While still an infant the family moved back to Cherry County.

Mrs. Randall attended rural schools in the Brownlee area and graduated high school in Wood Lake in 1936. She worked at various jobs in Chadron and Gordon, and Evanston, Illinois before joining the WAVES in 1942. She served in the United States navy for 34 months.

On December 28, 1945, Dorothy and Major Alwin L. Randall were married in the Episcopal Church in Valentine.

Dr. Randall later set up his dental practice in Valentine where the couple lived and their three children Linda, Cathy and John were born and raised. Mrs. Randall spent much of her time keeping books and serving as her husband's assistant. After his death in 1967, she worked at Cumbow Accounting and at the Sale Barn. Later she worked at the First National Bank for three years and at the Cherry County Assessor's office for 13 years. After her retirement she donated many hours of her time to the Senior Center, serving on the Board and keeping the books for 13 years.

She is survived by her children Linda and Geary Combs of Blair; Cathy and John Markus of Crookston; and John and Dawn Randall, of Weeping Water; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Melvin Micheel of Merriman; sisters Leila Johnson of Anselmo; Marti Lamoureaux of Valentine and Betty Bennett of Merriman.

She was preceded in death by her husband Al, and siblings Leon, Margaret and Jack.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Episcopal Church or Cherry Hills Estates in lieu of flowers.

Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine was in charge of arrangements.
