Remembering the Life of Marvin Eli Ludwick

Marvin Eli Ludwick was born on June 22, 1930 to Marvin (Sr.) and Marguerite Ludwick in Omaha, Nebraska. Marvin was 89 when he died, August 6, 2019 in Mesa, Arizona. Marvin was a longtime resident of Council Bluffs, Iowa until he moved to Arizona in 2014.

Marvin was a veteran serving in the United States Navy Reserve from 1947-1952, during the Korean conflict. Marvin was employed at Chicago Northwestern Railroad before he retired. Marvin was a member of First Christian Church of Council Bluffs where he served as a Sunday school teacher, Deacon and an Elder. For many years he led an annual wild game men’s breakfast at the church. Marvin also loved working with the Boy Scouts of America and was a scout leader of Troop 11 for many years.

Marvin was married to Velma M. McClellan on October 17, 1950 in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Marvin and Velma had five children who were all raised in Council Bluffs: Don, Ron, Deb, Rob and David. Velma died in 2007. On June 22, 2012 Marvin married JoAnn Neuberg of Mesa, Arizona where the couple resided at the time of his death.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Velma of 57 years, two brothers, Gene and Richard, and infant sister Janet, and two sons Ron and Rob.

Marvin is survived by his wife JoAnn Ludwick, his children Don (Sharon) Ludwick, Deb (Charlie) Tucker, Dave (Deb) Ludwick; two daughters-in-law: Deb (Ron) Ludwick and Vickie (Rob) Ludwick; sister, Pat Byrd; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Pallbearers: Don Ludwick, Dave Ludwick, Jim McAfoos, Caleb Ludwick, John McAfoos, Treg Fisher, Mike Smith, Garison Fisher

Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa

A reception will be held immediately following the Committal service in the Hoy-Kilnoski Community Room

The family will direct memorials.
