MRS. WM. SCHEER PASSES AWAY

A large number of friends and relatives attend the funeral services for Mrs. William Scheer, Sr., which were held on Saturday afternoon at St. Paul’s Lutheran church, with the pastor, the Rev. G. W. Wolter officiating.

The rostrum was banked with lovely floral pieces which showed the respect and esteem in which the deceased was held in the Arlington community.

Mrs. Scheer, as Anna Emillie Kohring, was born in Quincy, Illinois on August 16th, 1869, and at the age of 16 years came to Fontanelle to make her home with her aunt, Mrs. August Ruwe.

On April 8th, 1888 the was married to William Scheer, and the couple resided on their farm north of town until a few years ago when they retired and bought a home in Arlington.

Mrs. Scheer died on Wednesday morning following an illness of several months’ duration.

During the services at the home Prof. and Mrs. Otto Schnackenburg sang “Jesus Lover of My Soul” and “Abide With Me” and at the church the choir sang “Jerusalem, Thou city Bright and Fair”.

The pallbearers were all nephews of Mrs. Scheer, and were Obert Scheer, Otis Scheer, Leonard Scheer, Elmer Scheer, Clarence Scheer and Walter Scheer.

Besides her husband Mrs. Scheer is survived by 10 children, all of whom, with their families, were present at the funeral with the exception of Mrs. Ernest Merkling of Fremont, who has been confined to her home with illness for the past week or so.

The children are Mrs. H. H. Mueller of Concordia, Mo; Mrs. W. A. Westerman of Seattle, Wash; Mrs. Ernest Merkling of Fremont; Albert Scheer of Ellsworth, Kans; Mrs. August Echtenkamp, Mrs. Arthur Laaker, William, Jr., George, Emil and Erwin all of Arlington. Twenty seven grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive her.
