BLAIR MAN DROWNS IN MISSOURI RIVER THIS MORNING

Alfred M. Nielsen, farmer living near Blair and employed on the river work, was drowned this Thursday morning at about 11:30.

He had gone down the river on a loaded barge belonging to Morrison Glasscock and Connor Co. on a sightseeing trip, and on the way down they met an empty barge going up. Against the advice of those on the barge he attempted to jump from the loaded barge to the empty barge, and missed his footing and fell into the river. Both crews immediately gave assistance with ropes and by sending out men with life preservers, but with no results.

The river at the present time is being dragged for the body. The victim is the son of Peter J. Nielsen of west South street.
