OLD SETTLER DIED FRIDAY

Paul Nelson, old settler of the Fort Calhoun vicinity, died at his home last Friday, August 7, at the ripe old age of 89 years, 10 months and 27 days.

Paul Nelson was a native of Denmark and immigrated to America in 1868 coming to Toledo, Ohio. The next year he came to Omaha. In 1878 he was married and continued to make his home in Omaha until 1887 when he moved to the farm near Fort Calhoun where he died.

The wife died nine years ago but three sons, Frank of O’Neil and Arthur and George at home and two daughters Mrs. Carl Petersen of Irvington and Mary at home survive him.

Mr. Nelson was a man highly respected by his neighbors, a devout Christian, and a man who took much interest in civic questions, and he has many friends who relied on his council who will miss him sorely.

Funeral services were Held on Tuesday from the home, and interment was made in the Forest Lawn cemetery in Omaha.
