MRS. MARTHA M. HINKLEY

Martha M. Bartels was born at Bowling Green, Wood county, Ohio May 15, 1858, the youngest in a family of nine children. When fourteen years of age the family came west settling at Sandy Point, Iowa, just across the river from Blair.

On November 1st, 1874 she was united in marriage to Wallace E. Hinkley, who passed away at their home in Blair in May, 1902. To them three children were born, H. J. Hinkley of Cavour, South Dakota, Mrs. Charles Brenbarger of Blair and Guy E. Hinkley who died May 8th, 1935. There are also five grandchildren and one aged sister, Mrs. Case of Waterloo, Iowa.

Mrs. Hinkley was a pioneer of Washington county in the New England neighborhood where she came as a bride and where all her children were born. They moved to Blair in 1900, she passed away July 10 at the age of 78 years.

Services were held at the cemetery conducted by Rev. T. J.
