Mads P. Hansen, well known and highly respected farmer, passed away Thursday, July 9th as the result of a paralytic stroke three years ago.

Deceased was born in Denmark September 2, 1855, and was thus 81 years of age at his passing. He immigrated to America when twenty three years of age, coming directly to Fremont where he lived for three years and then moved to Colfax county.

He was married twice. His first marriage was in 1883 to Miss Marianne Sinamark. To this union six children were born, two died in infancy and a daughter at the age of twenty three. The first wife passed away in 1897.

In 1892 he moved to this county where he has since made his home, and in 1902 he was united in marriage to Miss Pauline Paulsen, and to this union six children were born.

Mr. Hansen was a successful farmer, and a conscientious Christian worker, always ready to do his part in the work of the church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Carrie Hansen, Milwaukee, Wis; Mrs. Bertha Hansen, Green Bay, Wis; Mrs. Mary Hansen and Miss Lydia Hansen, both of Blair and also by five sons: Hans, Edward, James and Martin, all of Blair and Aaron of Hardy, Nebraska.

Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon at 2:30, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
