MRS. EMELIE SCHUMACHER DIES

Mrs. Emilie Schumacher, mother of Hans Schumacher, formerly of Blair, passed away very suddenly Thursday morning June 4, when she suffered a heart attack at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emelie Iverson of Plattsmouth, with whom she had been making her home for the past year and a half.

Funeral services were held at Plattsmouth last Saturday, and interment was made at the Fort Calhoun cemetery.

As Emelie Schneider, the deceased was born in Germany September 16 1852, and in 1872 she was united in marriage to Frank Schumacher, who preceded her in death, passing away at Fort Calhoun in 1917. They emigrated to America in 1881, settling first in Cuming county, near West Point. Later they lived for many years at Osmond, Nebr., and still later at Fort Calhoun.

After the death of her husband, Mrs. Schumacher came to Blair to make her home with her son, Hans, and for over fifteen years was a resident of Blair until Hans was promoted to roadmaster of the M. & O. railroad when they moved, first to Emerson and later to Minnesota. In December, 1935 she came to Plattsmouth to make her home with her daughter.

In spite of her more than 83 years of age, Mrs. Schumacher was physically active and mentally alert up to the very moment of her death, she having risen and performed her usual duties that morning. Death came to her as she sat in her chair in her room, peacefully, though suddenly, where she was found by her daughter who had seen her at her bedroom window only a few minutes before.

Her passing is mourned by five children: Hans of Mankato, Minn.; Frank of Solon Springs, Wilsonian; Mrs. Emelie Iverson of Plattsmouth; Mrs. H. T. Ring of Hooper; and Mrs. J. H. Beales of Fort Calhoun.
