MRS. ERNEST KERSTETTER LAID TO REST

Emma Katherine Stender was born August 30, 1894 near Kennard, and passed away April 2, 1936 after a month of lingering illness. During the time of her long illness she was a patient sufferer, and made the burden on others as light as possible. In spite of the most loving care there was, nothing that could be done, and she grew weaker and weaker, finally peacefully sleeping away.

Deceased was married to Ernest Kerstetter on March 20, 1917, and immediately moved to the Kerstetter farm where she resided until her death. She was a loving and helpful neighbor and took much interest in her home and community and will be greatly missed.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband and two sons, Stanley, aged 18 and Clyde, aged 12, also her aged father, Chris Stender, five sisters, Mr. Chris Schumacher of Kennard; Mrs. Henry Petersen, Gravity, Iowa; Mrs. Fred Wulf, Blair; Mrs. Gus Auch, Bennington; Mrs. Ben Bergman, Blair and five brothers, Ernest Stender, Germany; Julius Stender, Washington; Otto Stender, Winside, Nebraska; Emil Stender, Kennard; Chris Stender, Jr., Washington and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the home and Elk City church Sunday afternoon, with interment at the Elk City cemetery where a large throng gathered for the last sad rites.

Pallbearers were John Kruse, Claus Kuehl, Pete Thompsen, John Johanson, John Cooper and Pete Wulf.
