Layton D. Anderson, 63, of Blair, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Country Bible Church in Blair, with a graveside service at the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, with a prayer service held at 7 p.m.

Layton Dean Anderson was born Dec. 11, 1944, in Bancroft to Harold L. and Lavera (Grafe) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bancroft. He attended school at Bancroft grade school and then junior high in Craig. From 1965 to 1967, he served his country as a soldier in the United States Army. After the service, he worked for Sheets Construction. In 1969, he began working for the Nebraska Department of Roads. He worked for NDOR until 2000, when he had to stop working due to his battle with cancer.

On August 14, 1971, he was united in marriage to Betty Lorsch.

Mr. Anderson loved fishing and woodworking. He loved "dinking," as he called it, on many projects in his day. He was very active in the Relay For Life and in 2002, he was the Honorary Survivor.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Blair; daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Steve Rushlow; mother, Lavera; brothers and sisters, Wanda Puffer and Harry Anderson, both of Craig, Judy and Clark Smith of Omaha, Bud and Mary Anderson of Richland, Mo., Gerry and Lucille Anderson of Louisville, Ky., Jane and Bob Anderson of Rock Springs, Wyo., Jim and Joyce Anderson of Norfolk, Janice and Don Paulson of Oxford, Connie and Chuck Delp of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Lesa and Robert Parker of Fremont; in-laws, Darlene and Franklin Young and Janet and Dick Sederburg, all of Blair; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
