Takes Own Life

When Marshal Otto Asmussen opened the door of the office in the building operated by Pat Iverson as a garage and liquor store about 7:45 Tuesday morning, he found the body of Pat lying across a cot in the room. Beside him was a shotgun and a yard stick, and a closer investigation revealed a wound in his left side, the charge of the gun having entered the heart, causing instant death. The hands of the victim of self destruction were still trembling when the marshal discovered the body, indicating that the deed had been committed just shortly before. Henry Frahm had talked to Pat about an hour before the marshal made his gruesome discovery, and no one heard the fatal shot, although several had passed the place at that time. It is presumed that the yard stick was used to press the trigger of the gun. Those who talked with Pat late Monday evening and early Tuesday morning said he gave no indication whatever of taking his own life.

The deceased was born on a farm west of Ft. Calhoun on Sept. 22, 1877, and his entire life was spent in this vicinity. He is survived by three brothers, Herman and William of Ft. Calhoun, and John of Plattsmouth, and two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Ohrt of Roseberg, Oregon, and Ms. Luis Cappellette of Omaha. The funeral services will be held in the Presbyterian church this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock.
