#2 Funeral leaflet

Written 2013, a letter to the church

All of the important events in my life have taken place at the Methodist Church in Blair in either this building or the one before. It is not just one special minister, teacher or person, it is just the church as a whole that has played a big part in my life.

My father’s funeral was held in the old church when I was 14 and my sister 4. My mother’s funeral was held in the present building. Our mother married again some years later in the present church. Chuck and I were one of the first weddings in this church on September 30, 1951. My sister was married here also. Our children were all baptized, confirmed and married in the present church. Through the years I have attended Sunday school, with youth groups getting together from other towns. I remember Carol Bagby’s brother in the Tekamah youth group. I sang in the church choir while in High School, taught Sunday school, served on boards and held office in the UMW. This past year our 27 year old grandson was in a terrible car accident and in critical condition. We called Pastor Rebecca and we all made a circle around his bed holding hands and praying. By the grace of God he came through it.

I am 82 years old and needless to say, when I leave this earth, it will be from this church. It has formed my relationship with God.—Helen Seefus
