MRS. JULIUS TREAT

Harriet L. Cain was born February 11, 1862 at Ross Grove, Illinois, and passed away at her home at Herman, Nebraska October 27th, 1935 at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 16 days.

She was a member of the Methodist church and Order of the Eastern Star at Herman, Nebraska, and also a member of the Rebekah lodge of Blair, Nebraska.

In the year 1892 she was united in marriage to Julius Treat, he preceded her in death in 1909. She came to Herman, Nebraska in 1911 and has since made this her home.

“Aunt Hattie”, as she was known to everyone in the community, was loved for her happy disposition, her devotion to her church and her willingness to help others. She leaves to mourn her departure three sisters, Mrs. Mary Walker of Hudson, South Dakota, Mrs. George Lowe of Herman, Nebraska and Mrs. O.H. Lowe of Arlington, Nebr., and one brother, Charlie A. Cain of Sandwich, Ill.; two stepchildren, Charlie and Clara Treat of California, besides nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Brief funeral services were held at the home at two o’clock Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. R. B. E. Hill of the Methodist church, assisted by Rev. T. J. Reese of Blair. The remains were taken by auto hearse to Omaha, and from there by train to Sandwich, Illinois for burial. Mrs. Mary Walker and Mrs. George Lowe accompanied the body to Illinois and will visit there a short time before returning.

Those from out of town who attended the services were the following members of the Rebekah lodge at Blair: Mesdames Frank Peck, John J. Jensen, Frank Bross, Wynn Baer, Gene David, Ada Reid, Mary Hain, Mary Lutz, J.S. Conety and Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Hanna, Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Compton, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Skinner of Omaha; Rev. and Mrs. T.J. Reese, members of the Pawnee City lodge. Others here were Mrs. Dick Farber and Mrs. Earl Kinert of Modale, Iowa; Mrs. Leo Weber of Arlington; Mrs. D.E. Hayes of Omaha and Lyle Skinner of Omaha
