PETER STRICKLETT ANSWERS CALL

Peter Stricklett, Sr. passed away Thursday evening, October 10, at his home in southwest Blair. He had been in failing health for some time, but his last serious illness was not of long duration. Deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stricklett who were pioneer settlers of this county.

He was born February 2nd, 1870, and with the exception of a few months spent in the south, he has spent his entire life in and about Blair.

On December 24, 1902 he was married to Esther Bouvier, also a native of this county, and to them six children were born Mrs. Dorothy Anderson of Omaha; Peter, Jr. of Blair; Mary, Isabelle, Coral Jean and Roger at home.

Deceased was one of a family of thirteen children and he is survived by five brothers, Charles, Dick, Joe and Frank of Blair and John of Omaha and three sisters, Mrs. Laura Cleaver of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Mrs. Kate Campbell and Mrs. Mattie Jenson of Blair and three grandchildren, Louis and Esther Anderson and Ronald Dean Stricklett.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the Congregational church with Rev. A.F. Newell of Lincoln officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Thus passes another of the older settlers who knew the county in its early days of pioneering when the history of the county was in the making.
