BELIEVE HUSBAND OF FORMER KENNARD WOMAN LOST LIFE

Went for skiff Ride in Far North; Not Seen Since Then

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dunkin, the latter being the former Callie Randall of Kennard, and Mrs. Dunkin’s brother, Orin, are believed to have been drowned in the Pacific ocean off the coast of British Columbia according to information received in Kennard Wednesday.

Dunkin, head foreman of the Chicago and Northwestern shops at Long Pine, Nebraska, and Mrs. Randall were married at Kennard two years ago. Since that time they have lived at Long Pine, although they visited Kennard frequently, having made an extended visit with friends there the past summer.

Shortly after the Kennard visit the couple left on a vacation trip to British Columbia to be the guest of Mr. Dunkin’s brother, commercial fisherman and sportsman, who lives in that region.

According to reports reaching Kennard, Dunkin, his wife and brother, went out for a skiff ride in the craft owned by Orin on September 13, and they have not been seen nor heard from yet. Inasmuch as nearly three weeks have passed since their disappearance, it is presumed the boat overturned and that all three were drowned.

With the faint hope, however, that the craft might merely have become disabled and drifted to some small remote island, coast guard cutters and airplanes are searching the vicinity, hoping at least to sight the boat reports say.

Mrs. Dunkin has a daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Frank Adams, who now lives at Benson, but who formerly lived at Kennard.
