Ethel A. French, 90

Ethel A. French, 90, of Fremont, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Services were 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Russ Tompkins officiated.

Burial was in Arlington Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tim Brooks, Tom Savage, Eugene French, Mel and Chris Hilgenkamp and Robert Safford.

Ethel A. French was born Jan. 24, 1909, to Charles and Naomi (Johns) French in rural Arlington.

She attended Blair High School and in 1937, she graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

She taught school in Whitford, Orum and also in Big Springs for a couple of years.

For one year, she worked for the government in Washington, D. C. Then, she returned to her former profession, teaching for many years in Washington State and in Nogales, Ariz., and Phoenix, Ariz., until her retirement in 1974.

She moved to Fremont in 1993.

She was a member of the Baptist Church, of several teachers’ organizations, art associations and card clubs, all in Arizona.

She is survived by her nephews and their wives, Richard and June French of Greybull, Wyo., Charles and Donna French of Bradenton, Fla., Glenn and Betty French of Overgaard, Ariz., Eugene and Sharon French of Elkhorn, and Tom Savage of Lincoln; nieces and their husbands, Janet and Richard Noble of Omaha, Diane and Mel Hilgenkamp of Arlington, Mary Ann and Greg Pozzi of Cedar Crest, N.M., Virginia Inclan of Omaha, and Marilyn King of Fremont; sister-in-law, Georgiana French of Arlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Naomi French; four brothers, Willard French, Harold French, Raymond French and Gifford French; two sisters, Lila French and Irene Savage; and niece, Mary Beth Owata.

Memorials are suggested to Fremont Care Corps.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
