WELL KNOWN FARMER OF SPIKER VICINITY SUCCUMBS ILLNESS

William Gosker, Native of County, Held in High Esteem

William Gosker, 58 years of age and a native of this county, passed away at Excelsior Springs, Mo. last Sunday at one o’clock p.m. He had been in poor health for some time, and for that reason he and his wife went to the Springs on Tuesday of last week.

A physical examination showed his tonsils to be in bad shape and a tonsillectomy was performed from which other complications set in and resulted in his death. The body was brought to Blair, and on Wednesday afternoon at one o’clock funeral services were held at the home south of Spiker and at two from the Vacoma Lutheran church, and interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Deceased was married to Miss Minnie Neiderkruger in 1902, and to this union four children were born, three of whom, one daughter, Viola, and two sons, Delmer and Raymond, all grown to maturity, are living and at home with the bereaved mother. His aged mother and two brothers, Henry and Edward, and one sister, Mrs. F. F. Petersen, also survive him and join with the family in their great sorrow.

Mr. Gosker was a man of deep religious convictions, strictly honest and upright in his dealings, he had a life that was worthy of emulation and that he was held in the highest esteem was evidenced by the large number of his old friends and neighbors who were present at the last sad rites, thus acknowledging their love and respect for a life well spent.

He was always among the foremost in his affiliations to his church, ready and anxious to do his part, and the last ceremonies presided over by Rev. Moeller of Hooper were symbolical of the life of devotion he had lead.
