REV. JOHN GRANT SHICK OF CAMBRIDGE IS STRICKEN SUDDENLY

Prominent in Church Work. Pres. State Anti-Saloon League

John Grant Shick, formerly pastor of the local Methodist church and later head of the Crowell Memorial Home, was stricken while in attendance at the state conference of the Methodist churches in Omaha last week, and died Wednesday, September 18th. At his death he was 66 years of age.

Funeral services were held in the Blair Methodist church Friday afternoon, September 20 at 2:30 o’clock, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Rev. Shick was a man of deep convictions. A bitter enemy of the drink habit, he became head of the Anti-Saloon League of the state when the fight was the hottest. He gave up this work to come to Blair as head of the Crowell Memorial Home. At his death he held a pastorate at Cambridge, Nebraska.

He leaves his wife, a daughter, a sister and two brothers to mourn his death.

While living in Blair, first as pastor of the local Methodist church and in later years as head of the Crowell Memorial Home, Rev. Shick made many warm friends who admired him for his ability and sincerity and who, with the family, mourn the loss of one so useful in the uplift of humanity.
