Mrs. H.G. Van Deusen, a long-time resident of Kennard and vicinity, passed away Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.A. Swihart of Arlington, where she had been staying for the past three weeks. Mrs. Van Deusen had been ill but a short time, and her passing came as a shock to her many friends here. Her former husband, Elias Anderson, passed away twenty three years ago. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, H.G. Van Deusen of Kennard, four sons, Charles of Omaha, George and John of Fremont and Oscar of Arlington; and two daughters, Mrs. J. A. Swihart of Arlington and Mrs. Louis Politz of Omaha. Funeral services were held at the M.E.church at Kennard on Wednesday afternoon, with interment in the Kennard cemetery.
