Guyer, who for the past several years has been in failing health, passed away at his home on East Park street Wednesday afternoon, September 4th, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 18 days. Although he had been in ill health these many years, he was not considered serious until the past June. From then on he gradually became weaker until the end came.

Deceased was born near Chambersburg, Pennsylvania January 16, 1857. As a young man he came west and settled at Council bluffs, Iowa, later moving to Missouri Valley, Iowa. At this time he was married to Vernocia L. Miller at Blair, Nebraska on October 31, 1889.

They resided in Missouri Valley for one year, then moved to Blair and have lived in this community until his death.

After moving to Blair, he followed the painters' trade for several years, then took up farming which he followed for about twenty years. After leaving the farm, he moved into Blair and was employed by the Blair Oil Co., being one of the first distributors of petroleum products in Washington county.

To this union were born five children, four of whom are living, Mrs. Andrew Madsen of Lyons, H. Lyle and Fred of Blair and Burman of Lincoln and one daughter, Lucille, having died in infancy.

Mr. Guyer was the last member of a family of nine children, eight sisters having preceded him in death.

Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his death six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was a great lover of his home and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

The funeral services were held Friday afternoon, September 6th from the Methodist Episcopal church with Rev. D. A. McCullough officiating. Burial was made in the Blair cemetery.
