HARRY GEORGE SCHERMAN

Funeral services for Harry George Scherman, who died on Wednesday, were held on Friday afternoon at St. Paul’s Lutheran church at two o’clock, and were conducted by the Rev. G. W. Wolter. Brief services were also held at the home at one o’clock. Mr. Scherman was born on June 10, 1848, at Delliehausen, Hanover, Germany, and was the only son of Mrs. and Mrs. Frederick Scherman.

On January 9, 1868 he was married to Miss Louise Gehrke, and in May they came to the United States, settling on a farm near Ravenna, Nebr.

In October, 1908, he with his wife and youngest daughter, moved to this vicinity to make their home with another daughter, Mrs. August Stranghoener. Here they celebrated their golden wedding, also their sixtieth wedding anniversary. Mrs. Scherman preceded her husband in death in 1929. He is survived by two sons, Rev. August Scherman of Staplehurst and Henry Scherman of Arlington; five daughters, Mrs. Fred Jacob of Ravenna, Mrs. Fred Scheer, Mrs. August Stranghoener, Mrs. Albert Sperling and Miss Rose Scherman, all of Arlington; twenty six grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
