KIRK G. WHITFORD

Kirk G. Whitford, son of Mrs. Chelsea Whitford, was born at Arlington August 20, 1920, and died April 26 at Beatrice. He was an only child and had been an invalid since birth.

The body was brought to Blair where funeral services were held at the Congregational church on last Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Van Valkenburgh of Arlington officiating. A quartette composed of Vernon Marshall, Vee Louis Marshall, Lita Marshall and Howard Marshall, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Alice Nemcom, all of Arlington, furnished the music.

At the funeral ceremony the church was packed with old friends of Mrs. Whitford from Arlington where she had resided for years, and with her many friends from Blair, who have learned to know and respect her for her true womanly character and whose sympathy goes out to her in her hour of great grief.

Besides the grief-stricken and devoted mother, the deceased leaves his aged grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Byers of Blair and Mrs. Dora Whitford of Evanston, Ill., who will always remember and feel their great loss.

Pallbearers who served at the interment were boys of Kirk’s age who had known him in early childhood: Robert Hitchman, Robert Hemphill, Robert Sylvis, Robert Christensen, Robert Hunt and John Andreasen. Interment was made in the Arlington cemetery beside the father who had passed on years before.
