MRS. BARBARA HAMMANG

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Hammang, who died at the home of her son, Harry J. Hammang on Wednesday, were held from the Methodist church on Friday afternoon, with the Rev. Ralph P. Rasmussen, assisted by the Rev. H. C. Van Valkenburgh, in charge.

Mrs. Hammang, as Barbara Wunderlich, was born on September 9, 1849 at Jefferson, Wisconsin. She was married to Joseph Hammang at Fairbault, Minn., on August 27, 1873, and the following month the newly married couple came west in a covered wagon, making their home on a farm near Fontanelle until 1885 when they moved to Arlington.

Nine children were born to this union, three of whom preceded the mother in death. Mr. Hammang also preceded his wife in death, passing away forty two years ago. The funeral services were largely attended, and the floral offerings were numerous.

Mrs. Earl Lee of Fremont, accompanied by Mrs. A. F. Plambeck, both of Fremont, sang “Going Home” and a quartette, composed of Mrs. Dora Ludwig, Mrs. A. C. Rosenkilde, Allen Laaker and Joe Wallingford, with Mrs. Clifford Decker as accompanist, also sang two numbers.

The pallbearers were Lawrence Brown, G. I. Pfeiffer, J. P. Rhea, Glenn Masters, Don Weber and A. O. Hawkins.

The sons and daughters who survive are: Harry J., Samuel P., Mrs. Belle Chapman and Mrs. Grace Mastick, all of this place; Mike of Fremont; and Byron of Omaha. Other surviving relatives include Mrs. Robert Hamming of Omaha; eighteen grandchildren and three brothers, George, Adolph and Peter Wunderlich, all of Minnesota.

Among the out of town relatives who attended the rites were Mesdames Robert Hammang, Gordon Janing, Harold Henderson and children, Marilyn and Doris, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Hammang, Mr. and Mrs. H. Walrath, and Paul Hammang, all of Omaha; Miss Barbara Mastick, Mike Hammang, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Plambeck, Mrs. Kirk Lee and Mrs. Earl Lee, all of Fremont and Miss Helen Chapman of Lincoln.
