Mr. Petersen Dies Suddenly

Ex-Bennington Man, 76, Falls Dead While Visiting Friends, Kin

Peter Petersen, 76, of Omaha, native and former resident of the Bennington area, fell dead of a heart attack Friday while visiting relatives and friends.

Mr. Petersen had gone to the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lars Rasmussen, who live a mile north of Dornacker School, to visit them and friends. He had just returned to the Rasmussen home from calling on neighbors when he fell dead.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. Burial followed in the German Cemetery.

Surviving Mr. Petersen are three daughters, two brothers, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Peter Petersen, 76 years, passed away suddenly on Friday evening, January 26, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lars Rasmussen, north of Bennington.

He was born in Douglas county and in 1897 was married to Meta Lamp, who preceded him in death on May, 1940.

To this union one son and three daughters were born. The son passed away in 1920.

Mr. Petersen farmed north of Bennington until 1941 when he went to Omaha to make his home with his daughter. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Lars Rasmussen, Blair; Mrs. Chris Krose, Omaha; Mrs. Henry Kruse, Omaha; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Mrs. Martha Kohl, Iowa; Mrs. P. C. Petersen, Bennington; Mrs. Marie Belknap, Kansas, formerly of Blair; and 2 brothers, Paul of Omaha; Arthur of Iowa; and a host of friends. Services were held on Monday at 2 p.m. from St. John’s church at Bennington. Burial in German cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Harry Fedde, Wm. Schuldt, Carl Puls, Emil Gotisch, Otto Gotisch,Tom Kniep.
