Funeral For Mrs. Nielsen

Widow of the Rev. Hans Nielsen Succumbs At 78; Lutheran Rites

Long a resident of Blair, Mrs. Lydia Nielsen, 78, of 804 West Park St., died last Thursday at Blair Hospital, where she had been a patient for a week. She was the widow of the Rev. Hans Nielsen.

The body was removed to the Bendorf Funeral Home. Services were held at First Lutheran Church Sunday at 2, with the Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating. Burial was in Blair Cemetery.

Lydia Laurine Dagmar Fredericksen, daughter of Hans and Karen Fredericksen, was born Feb. 10, 1876, at Argo, in Burt County. In 1893 she came to Washington County, and on Nov. 28 of that year was married to Anders Simon (Sam) Christensen. He died June 1, 1915.

Of Apr. 8, 1925, she was married to the Rev. Hans Nielsen, who for 10 years was pastor of First Lutheran Church. The Rev. r. Nielsen died Dec. 22, 1944.

Mrs. Nielsen was preceded in death by a son, born May 10, 1899, who died a few weeks after his birth. A stepson, the Rev. Skrieyer Nielsen, died in 1950.

Surviving Mrs. Nielsen is a sister, Miss Anna Andersen of Blair.

MRS LYDIA NIELSEN BURIED SUNDAY

Mrs. Lydia Nielsen, wife of the late Rev. Hans Nielsen, passed away at the Blair hospital Thursday June 10th. She had been hospitalized since June 4th.

Mrs. Nielsen was born in Burt County, Nebraska, February 19, 1876. She came to Washington County in 1893 and on November 28 of that year she was married to Anders Simon Christensen, better known here as “Sam” Christensen. He passed away June 1, 1915.

Ten years later she married the late Rev. Hans Nielsen who was pastor of the First Lutheran Church for ten years. The Rev. Mr. Nielsen passed away on December 22, 1944.

Since that time Mrs. Nielsen has lived at 804 West Park Street. A son born in 1899 died in infancy. A step-son, the late Scriver Nielsen, passed away in 1950. Mrs. Nielsen leaves to mourn her passing one sister, Miss Anna Andersen of Blair.

Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran Church Sunday, June 13 with the Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating. Rev. E. R. Andersen, of Racine, Wisconsin, a relative of Mrs. Nielsen, assisted. Burial under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home was made in the Blair Cemetery.
