Leslie M. French, 85

Leslie M. French, 85, died on Oct. 20, 1988, at his home in Arlington.

Mr. French was the former owner and operator of the French Service Station and Oil Company at Arlington.

Leslie French was born on July 18, 1903, in the rural Arlington Area where he lived his entire life.

On June 10, 1925, Leslie French was united in marriage to Inez Jeppesen, formerly of Kennard, in a ceremony held in Blair.

Mr. French was a member of the Arlington Community Church and the Hiram Masonic Lodge Number 52 A. F. and A.M. at Arlington. He received his 50 year pin in 1985.

Mr. French was a Washington County Supervisor for 22 years as well as serving on the Arlington Town Board. He also was the Secretary-Treasurer of the Arlington School Board and a former member of the Arlington Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. French was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lena (Menking) French; sisters, Hazel Ludwig, Cora Plugge, Myrtle Martson, Edith Johnson and Emma Nonemaker; brothers, Clarence, Helley, Everett and Harley French.

Leslie French is survived by his wife Inez, two daughters, Mrs. Duane (Nila) Chappelear and Mrs. Loren (Ina Deane) Rogers both of Arlington; a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Viola) Norskov of Papillion; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services for Leslie French were held on Monday, Oct. 24, at the Arlington Community church.

The Rev. Robert B. Saunders officiated. Masonic graveside services were conducted by members of Hiram Masonic Lodge Number 52 A.F. and A.M. of Arlington. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Douglas, Mark, and Tom Chappelear, Larry, Lynn and Lane Rogers and Londo Auch. Burial was at the Arlington Cemetery.

Memorials have been established in his name at the Arlington Community Church. Funeral arrangements were handled by Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington.
