JENS B. JENSEN VICTIM OF PARALYSIS

Very Well Known County Farmer Stricken Three Weeks Ago

Three weeks ago Jens Black Jensen, well known and highly respected citizen of this county suffered a paralytic stroke from which he never recovered, and which caused his death on Wednesday, February 6.

Deceased was born in Hamill, Denmark on February 11, 1858, and thus lacked but five days of being 77 years of age at his death. He came to Omaha in May, 1882 and then to this county where he engaged in farming, making this home with the exception of four years which were spent in Douglas county.

In his forty nine years as a resident of this county, he was known as an upright, honest and industrious citizen, respected for his truth and fidelity.

He was married to Miss Anna Jensen May 10th 1887, and to them ten children are living, six daughters and four sons: Mrs. Sena Wulf of Orum; Soren Jensen of Herman; Hannah Jensen of Blair; Chris E. Jensen of Blair; J. Emil Jensen of Tekamah, Nebr.; William Jensen of Blair; Mrs. Elinore Kastl of Blair; Mrs. Mabel Schafer of Herman, Nebr.; Mrs. Esther Schenck of Blair and Stella J. Jensen of Blair. Also 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

He is also survived by five brothers and one sister: John of Denmark; Anton of Colome, South Dakota; Chris of Winside, Nebr.; Magnus of Winside, Nebr.; Fred of Winside, Nebr. and Mrs. L. E. Neilsen of Wahoo, Nebr.

In his early life in Denmark he was confirmed in the Lutheran church, but later in this country he became a member of the Blair Congregational church over thirty years ago, and he led a life entirely consistent with its teachings. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F. of Blair.

Funeral services will be held at the Baptist church on Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. A. W. Newell officiating, assisted by Rev. T. J. Reese, and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.

His death, following so closely after the death of his son-in-law, Frank L. Schafer, makes the burden of grief almost past human ability to endure, and The Enterprise extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
