FRANK SCHAFER, JR. SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES

Frank L. Schafer, Jr., who last week was the victim of an accident caused by the falling of a tree which he was cutting, passed away in the Methodist hospital in Omaha on last Friday, February 1st.

Frank was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schafer of this city, and was born on a farm 6 1/2 miles southwest of Blair on December 20, 1897 where he grew to manhood, living on the same farm until ten years ago when he moved to a farm about five miles west of Herman where he was still living at the time of his death.

On June 14, 1919 he was married to Mabel Jensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jens Black Jensen of this city, and they have lived a happy, contented life. Frank was an industrious, upright man and he was held in high regard by all who came in contact with him.

The funeral rites were held in the Methodist church on Monday, February 4, with Rev. Immanuel Petersen of Herman officiating, assisted by Rev. D. A. McCullough of this city, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, one adopted son, Marshall, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schafer; two sisters, Mrs. Grover Wilkins of Kennard and Mrs. Rolland Smith of Blair and one brother, Harold, of Omaha.

The following out-of-town folks attended the funeral services: Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Miller, Mrs. Maggie Noah and Mr. Floyd Ingram all of Beloit, Kansas; Edgar Miller of Geneva, Nebr.; and Mrs. Irene Kadle of Topeka, Kansas, relatives of Mrs. Frank Schafer, Sr.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jensen, Miss Johanna Jensen, Magnus Jensen and sons, Peter and Chris, Leo and John B. Jensen and Chris Jensen and son, Johnny, all of Winside, Nebr.; Mrs. Mary Nielsen and Chris Nielson of Wahoo, Nebr.; Mrs. Peter Diesel, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Voss of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Jensen and family of Tekamah and Rejnar Jensen of Kimbalton, Iowa, relatives of Mrs. Frank Schafter, Jr.; also Mr. and Mrs. John Burgess, Mr. William Burgess, Mrs. Victoria Smith, Mrs. Nettie Toelke, Mrs. LaPorte, Richard Meissner, Dewey Hansen of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Sim McDonald, Ed Thomas, Mrs. Andrew Nelson and Dr. and Mrs. J. Bolt of Tekamah.

FRANK SCHAFER JR. DIES OF INJURIES

DIES IN OMAHA HOSPITAL; FUNERAL SERVICES ARE HELD MONDAY.

As a result of severe injuries received January 30 when crushed beneath a falling tree, Frank Schafer, Jr., 37, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schafer of Blair, passed away at the Methodist hospital in Omaha February 1. The deceased was a well known resident of this community, having lived on a farm five miles west of Herman nearly ten years.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 4, at the Methodist church in Blair, at 2 o’clock, preceded by a very short service at the home of his parents. Rev. Immanuel Petersen of the Hill Creek Lutheran church of Herman officiated, assisted by Rev. D.A. McCullough and Rev. T.J. Reese, both of Blair.

Music consisted of selections by a male quartet, C.R. Gray, L.D. Long, Fred Robertson and Francis Forsberg, all of Herman, two solos by Rev. Petersen and a duet by Dagmar Olson, Herman, and Rev. Petersen. Mrs. Immanuel Petersen accompanied at the piano. Pallbearers were Wm. Behrendt, Fred Kubie, Herman Petersen, John Reeh, Jens Jespersen and Frank Broderson, all of Herman. Interment was made at the Blair cemetery.

Frank L. Schafer, Jr. was born on the farm six miles west of Blair, December 20, 1897, where he grew to manhood and lived, with the exception of one year, until ten years ago when he moved to a farm five miles west of Herman. He resided there until his death.

On June 14, 1919 he was united in marriage to Mabel Jensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jens Black Jensen of Blair. He was united with the Evangelical Lutheran church at Hill Creek four years ago.

His age at the time of his death was 37 years, 1 month and 11 days. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, one adopted son, Marshall; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schafer of Blair; two sisters, Mrs. Fern Wilkins of Kennard and Mrs. Eva Smith of Blair; one brother, Harold, of Omaha and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Many Herman folks were among the 750 people who attended the services.
