COUNTY RESIDENT 45 YEARS IS DEAD

Rites Held Monday for Mrs. Chris Stender at Washington, Nebr.

Mrs. Chris Stender, a resident of the Washington community for the past 45 years, died at her home there Sunday evening. She was 75 years old. Since 1890, when she and her husband moved to their farm near Washington, until 1928, Mrs. Stender had lived on the farm, both retiring in 1928 and moving to Washington village.

Mrs. Stender is survived by her husband, five sons, six daughters, 30 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The sons are: Julius and Chris Stender, Jr. of Washington; Otto of Winside, Nebr.; Emil of Kennard; and Ernest who now lives in Germany.

The daughters are: Mrs. Chris Schumacher of Kennard; Mrs. Henry Petersen of Gravity, Ia.; Mrs. Annie Wulff of Blair; Mrs. Ernest Kerstetter of Washington; Mrs. Gustav Auch of Bennington; and Mrs. Ben Bergman of Blair. The sisters are Mrs. Emma Braasch of Omaha and Mrs. Carl Petersen of Alamosa, Colorado.

Funeral services were held at two o’clock Monday afternoon in the Washington community church, with Rev. Henry Goede of Bennington officiating. Burial was in the German cemetery north of Bennington.
