Melvin (Bud) French, formerly of Kennard, died Aug. 13, 1999, at his home in Omaha after a lengthy illness.

Services were Tuesday, Aug. 17, at West Center Chapel in Omaha.

Melvin (Bud) French was born April 10, 1927, to William and Nora (Larsen) French in Kennard.

He attended Kennard Public School and later serviced in the U. S. Navy.

On May 31, 1952, he married Betty McCardell of Omaha.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Chris Madsen of Parker, Colo., and Dr. Lisa Dawson of Landers, Wyo.; five grandchildren, Jill and John Madsen, and Meghan, Tommy and Katie Dawson; two sisters, Norma Juul of Blair, and Edna Moberg of Fremont; brother-in-law Harry Kahnk of Fremont; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alice Kahnk and Cleo McCann.
