Was Former Arlington Boy

Don Williams the brakeman, who was shot in a sensational maner on a Northwestern passenger train near Deadwood, S. D. was born in Arlington and resided there most of his life up to his departure for Deadwood to enter the railroad's employ. He conducted a newstand at the Arlington post office and thereby gained a large acquaintanceship. The shooting of Williams was most tragic. He was standing on the platform of a passenger coach when Tom Warner suddenly appeared with a gun and deliberately shot the youthful brakeman who fell dead on the spot. Warner then ran into a nearby building and blew the top of his own head off. The two had quarreled over Elsie Johnson, a girl who resides in Benton, Minn. It was said that the girl had cast Warner's affections aside on account of the Arlington youth. The body was taken to Arlington and funeral services were held Saturday.
