Mildred Mary Butler

13 Dec., 1934 - The Enterprise Mildred Mary Butler was born in Weeping Water, Nebraska on November 24, 1887, and passed away in Omaha, Nebraska December 5, 1934 at the age of 47 years and 11 days. She was graduated from the Weeping Water high school in 1905 and taught in that school the next two years and at Herman, Nebr. the following year. She then went to Peru Normal school and was graduated there two years later. She taught in Newman Grove one year, two years in Albion, then two years in the Lincoln public schools. She graduated from the Lincoln Business college and taught one year in Ashland, Nebr. and then was called back to a teaching position in the business college. She got her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska in 1925. The following September she began teaching in Omaha Technical high school, and was in her regular class work there the morning of the day she passed away. She joined the Congregational church in Weeping Water when she was 12 years old, and several years later transferred her membership to the First Plymouth Congregational church in Lincoln, Nebr. to which she was a devoted member always. She was a charter member of the Betty Alden Sunday School class of that church. It was the pleasure to her to be the sponsor of two graduating classes of Omaha Technical high school. She leaves a mother, two sisters, three brothers-in-law, one niece, four nephews and other relatives. Her father and two sisters preceded her to the home over there. The body was brought to Herman Wednesday night to the home of her sister, Mrs. J. H. Johnson. Funeral services were held at the Johnson home Saturday at 3 o’clock. Rev. C. C. Norlin gave the eulogy. Mrs. F. B. Shrader sang two solos with Mrs. Ivan Helms at the piano. On Sunday the body lay in state at the Hoffmann mortuary from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Funeral services were then held at the Congregational church at Weeping Water at 2 o’clock. Interment was made in the cemetery there. Accompanying the remains to Weeping Water were Mrs. Stella Butler, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Johnson, Mrs. Elton Stone of Easton, Pa., Mrs. Julius Neilsen of Weeping Water, Harvey Johnson of Chicago, Clair Johnson of Chappell and Miss Maddie Lowe.
