Funeral services for Mrs. W. L. Scheer who died on Wednesday at her home northeast of town following an extended illness, were held on Sunday afternoon at two o’clock at St. Paul’s Lutheran church preceding a service at the home at one o’clock. The church and surrounding church yard was filled with relatives and friends, many being unable to get in. The services were conducted by the Rev. G. W. Wolter and Prof. and Mrs. Otto Schnackenburg sang a duet “God Be With You Till We Meet Again”. The rostrum was banked with numerous floral offerings. Mrs. Lena Scheer was born near here on January 12th, 1879. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hilgenkamp, early pioneers, and her entire life was spent in the same vicinity. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Gilbert, and three daughters, Mrs. Edward Gnuse, Miss Clara and Miss Dorothy, all of Arlington; four sisters also survive, Mrs. John Echtenkamp, Sr., Mrs. E. H. Dunklau, Mrs. Louis Dickmeyer and Mrs. Theodore Rinas, all of Arlington. Pallbearers were nephews and were Walter Schmidt, Otto Knecht, Lawrence Dunklau, Irvin Dickmeyer, Paul Rinas and Oscar Scheer.
