WILLIAM F. BURDICK IS VICTIM OF DEATH

Man of Prominence in His Community, Active Lodge Worker

William F. Burdick, native of Washington county and resident of this vicinity the greater part of his life, died early this Thursday morning at Court View hospital here, where he had been receiving medical attention for the past seven weeks. He was stricken ill suddenly, and was taken immediately to the hospital where his condition gradually grew worse.

He was particularly well known in the Blair and Herman vicinity. Mr. Burdick was born August 13, 1859 near the site of the now-abandoned village of Rockport, southeast of Fort Calhoun, and as a young man he homesteaded near Herman.

Following his marriage to Miss Carrie Tyson, the family moved to Perry, Iowa where Mr. Burdick was employed as railway fireman for the next twelve years. They then moved to South Omaha, where he became an insurance man and for seven years a state Pure Food inspector.

Mrs. Burdick died about nineteen months ago, and since then the husband had divided his time between Blair and Omaha. His only immediate survivor is a brother, Ed Burdick, of Page, N.D.
