BLAIR MAN KILLED BY AUTO. DRIVER LEAVES SCENE

Louie Hansen Hit and Killed by Auto on Last Sunday Evening

IS KILLED INSTANTLY

Louie Hansen, age 72 years and a resident of Blair, met his death Sunday evening at about 7 o’clock by being hit by an automobile while crossing Third street about two hundred feet south of the intersection of Third and Nebraska streets.

Hansen and Andrew Beck were walking north on Third street and were following the east side of the paving. An automobile driven by Rudolph Juul was seen coming from the north and Beck stepped off the pavement after warning Hansen of the approaching car. Hansen, taking hold of Beck, proposed crossing the street which they accordingly did. Beck, who was in the lead managed to make the crossing, but Hansen was struck and knocked backward, falling directly into the path of a car coming from the south. Both cars hit him, and when he was reached by Mr. Beck he was dead.

The car coming from the south continued to the corner and turned east on Nebraska street, but it is stated stopped and the driver examined the car and then proceeded. The identity of the driver is not known, nor was the number of the car taken. Those who have knowledge of the accident attach no blame to either driver.

This street, having no sidewalk, is the most dangerous thoroughfare in the city for pedestrians.
